Honorary member of the Horizon 21 consortium, Tonnie Coppus was rewarded on Friday April 25 for special services to the society.


During all her life, she has made an exceptional contribution on a national and international level to improving medical care for adults with Down syndrome. Her service has also focused on caregivers. She put issues on the map that others were afraid to bring to the attention of the public. Tonnie always went the extra mile and is highly regarded.


She was instrumental in connecting the worlds of care and science. Tonnie wrote several articles about her expertise in scientific journals. She established a national Down syndrome clinic.
